Learning to climb trees

There are times when
learning to climb trees
is easier
than others.
He told me
that maybe
he would
never be able
to show me
how he does it;
teach me the tricks of his wooden trade.
I watched him
-from just
close enough
to know that
some day
we would
share a home together,
next door
to a pigeon's nest;
with not a rope-ladder
to be seen for miles.

  1. Wonderful!

    I look for purity in words/poems these days, I think, and feel this has some of that.

    What impressed me most was "wooden trade", somehow -- inventive.
